David Uslan began his
career even before graduating from college as an intern with D.C. Comics, Walter
Cronkite’s production company and Wild Brain Animation Studios. After
graduating from Indiana University in 2002, Mr. Uslan joined International
Creative Management (ICM), one of the leading talent agencies. He then joined
advertising giant McCann-Erickson where he assisted in national advertising for
Columbia Pictures. In late 2003, armed with a passion for comic books, history,
and creative development, Mr. Uslan went to work for his mentor and father,
Michael Uslan, where he assisted in developing and producing films including
Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Constantine, Catwoman,
National Treasure and The Spirit. At the same time, Mr. Uslan worked
with Comic Book Movies LLC to identify and develop projects and then with
Psychic Bunny LLC to identify, option and develop properties for feature film,
television, videogames, web and mobile content.
In 2007, Mr. Uslan
became a partner in the formation of COG1 Entertainment, a renowned digital
interactive production company. As senior vice president of development, Mr.
Uslan was responsible for selecting, acquiring and developing properties for
feature film, television, videogames and Digital Uses.
Among projects
acquired or developed by Mr. Uslan for film and television are Billy The
Monster Hunter, The Factor, Red Warrior, Mascot To The Rescue, Money To Burn,
Breed, and Shinku as well as the National Geographic
documentary Valentine’s Day Massacre, the pilot for Mob’s Greatest Hits,
currently airing in North America, Europe and Asia. Last year, Uslan also
produced fourteen documentaries for AMC which aired during their popular Mob
Week.
During the fall of
2009, David came on board as Vice President of Business Development for
Graphicly, a revolutionary digital comic book publishing and distribution
company. Graphicly is currently partnering with over 450 top comic book and
graphic novel publishers, mainstream publishing houses, and many small press and
independent companies, as well as over 6000 individual creators and renowned
feature film and television talent, to help produce as well as distribute their
content across a wide range of mobile, web, and desktop platforms in a new,
exciting, socially interactive way. Uslan formed Graphicly Studios in the spring
of ’11 as the feature film/television production arm to the company.
Along with his career
in the comic book industry, David consults for a number of entertainment and
digital companies as well. Most importantly are Peel Interactive, a renowned
digital marketing shop based in Seattle, WA, and VenSat Animation, a leader in
the Asian and European animation marketplace. He is also on the Board of
Directors for Team Prime Time, an influential afterschool organization based in
Los Angeles, as well as a member of the Board of Advisors for the Stan Lee
Foundation.
